After being booted from the Tribecca Film Festival in New York City, “Vaxxed: From Cover-up to Catastrophe,” a movie about a purported cover-up of a government study on the safety of the measles vaccine, opens Friday in Orange County.

Regency South Coast Village in Santa Ana will show the documentary for at least a one-week run. An evening screening Friday has already sold out.

Andrew Wakefield, a former doctor from Britain who has set out to prove there’s a link between the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine, or MMR, and autism – a theory that is widely disputed – co-wrote and directed the movie. He also appears frequently on screen. (more…)

Vaxxed: From Cover-Up to Catastrophe is the documentary that, amid controversy, was pulled from the lineup of the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. It asserts a link between the MMR vaccine (measles, mumps and rubella) and autism, particularly when given to children younger than 2 years old.

It is directed by Andrew Wakefield, the gastroenterologist whose findings in this area have been largely discredited by the medical community. So Vaxxed can be seen as Wakefield’s side of the story. (more…)

SACRAMENTO (CBM) — Californians in the state Capitol have been afforded the opportunity to view the controversial film, “Vaxxed” that alleges the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention covered up data that the MMR vaccine may contribute to autism in children, specifically African-American boys.

The film, “Vaxxed: From Cover-Up to Catastrophe,” opened Friday night in Sacramento at the Tower Theater, not far from the halls of political power. Last year a serious debate occurred in the state Assembly and Senate regarding vaccinating children before enrollment in school. (more…)

The closer he got to two years of age he stopped responding to his name, she said haltingly. He stopped trying to talk. He would lay in his crib silent for hours.
