The Oscar Goes To…Gleaming Skin, Matchy Makeup and Full Lashes VIDEO

Emmy Award-winning makeup artist, Melanie Mills, visited the CBS KCAL9 studios Wednesday to show off this season’s hottest red carpet beauty looks!

Mills, who spoke to the Associated Press about how stars get ready for the event, uses her signature product, Gleam Body Radiance – a body makeup, moisturizer and glow all-in-one on her clients to transform skin into a perfect velvet canvas, hiding imperfections and improving overall skin texture.

Mills’ uses Gleam Body Radiance as a makeup primer on her celebrity clients for the “lit from within” look that people love.

Show-day makeup takes about two hours, Melanie said to the AP. One of her secrets: using body makeup before foundation for a “sunny, gorgeous, lit-from-within glow” that stays on all day — and won’t transfer onto men’s jackets during the many industry-requisite hugs.

“You should also mist yourself with a setting spray,” she told Sandy Cohen of the AP, “especially if you’re going to be schmoozing with a lot of men in black tuxedoes.”

Mills is also a big believer in the power of the lash, in the video below she artfully shows us how to attach a strip lash for maximum impact:

What to watch for:

  • Matchy:
    • Matching Make up to gown like Lupita Nyong’o is famously doing each red carpet event

Matchy- Matchy Make up to Gown – Lupita Nyong’o who is nominated for “12 Years a Slave” has worn this look twice at the SAG Awards and the Golden Globes and knocked it out of the park. Also, Julia Roberts at the SAG Awards.

  • Skin is In:
    • Accent your décolletage, your shoulders, arms, legs with Gleam. “Vibrant, glowing skin is youthful and polishes the entire look on the red carpet,” says Mills.

Soft Metallics in makeup will be prevalent too – Mills tells Monsters and Critics to watch for “Jennifer Lawrence (American Hustle) and Sandra Bullock (Gravity) the Golden Globes, as well as Margot Robbie (Wolf Of Wall Street).”

Melanie adds, “Watch for stars rocking metallic gowns on the red carpet, remember you don’t want your face to fight with your gown for attention. Use toned down hues of the same metallics to look amazing and accent a metallic gown without overpowering and giving the face and skin an alien look. Strategic placement and subtlety are key.”

In 2013, Mills’ released “Glitter & Glam,” her best selling book which has become the bible for industry make up artists and people who want to learn how to use make up like the pros and recreate iconic looks, glamorous standards and everyday gorgeous natural looks.
