Not Your Grandfather’s Truck, Top Ford Dealer on Truck Mystique, ‘America Now’
Did you know the best selling vehicle in America isn’t a car?
We had no clue that trucks, traditionally the staple “car” of the working man and many Texans, was the top selling vehicle in the USA.
America Now’s reporter Steve Strope reveals what you need to know before you invest in a pickup truck – created in the 1920’s as a no-frills, workhorse. Now trucks rival the most luxurious sedans for comfort.
Our current TV news obsession, America Now, reports that for 30 years in a row, a pickup truck has been the #1 best-selling U.S. auto, with two other trucks making the top-five best-seller list. #5 is the Dodge Ram 1500, #3 is the Chevrolet Silverado, and #1 is the Ford F-150.
“American Now” interviewed the #1 Ford dealership in the country to ask why.
Beau Boeckmann, the Vice President of Galpin Motors, says a “truck is not a truck anymore… it’s become a lifestyle choice for many people…”

“Now it’s not just about driving to the work site, but driving to the office or going to the movies, taking the kids out, or going on vacation. There’s so much more you can do with a truck than you used to be able to do,” says Beau Boeckmann. America Now reports that this truck love runs deep and owners “identify” with what trucks offer. “It says so much about what you can do being independent, not having to rely on others,” says Beau Boeckmann. “It’s tough, it’s rugged, you can go anywhere and do anything. And now, with the available amenities that you can get in a truck, it really can match your personality. And I think that’s why people get so passionate about their trucks.”
Ask anyone who owns one, when they go scouting for antiques or buy an appliance, it no longer becomes a complicated chore.
Beau Boeckmann cautions first-timers to research and think about their needs for this unique vehicle, “Well first of all, the need. What are they going to use it for? For towing a boat? Or are they going to just drive it around in the city? Trucks have more configurations than any other automobile and they can get quite complicated. So, try to simplify. And secondly, what do you want? What’s important to you? Do enjoy a nice smooth drive? Is technology important, navigation and blue tooth? And most importantly, drive ‘em. Each vehicle drives differently. So, it’s important that you experience it for yourself, so you know what you’re going to be comfortable with.”
