Beauty Spotlight: Latest in Red Carpet Essentials from Head to Toe

We are now through the Grammys, SAG Awards and Golden Globes, and so far what we see is a return to high wattage looks, underscored by metallic finishes. Recently music’s biggest stars opted for nipped in waists and elegance (Daft Punk, we are not talking to you) not only in metallic gowns and accessories, but gleamed up gorgeous skin, velvety rose gold and bronze gold finishes that play up legs, faces, decolletage and arms. Hair too was perfectly lifted, glossy and teased, and we got the inside scoop on who is using what while our team attended the Grammys this year.

Metallic gowns were one of the biggest trends of the night, with Taylor Swift leading the pack in a silvery Gucci Premiere gown. Ciara shimmered in a rose-gold Emilio Pucci gown, Rita Ora glowed in a long-sleeved, green-gold Lanvin cocktail dress and model Chrissy Teigan sparkled in a silver gown with a daring neckline.

What did most of them have in common?

Gleam Body Radiance, invented by pro Emmy Award winning artist Melanie Mills, author of “Glitter & Glam,”  who supplies many Local 706 MAHS makeup artists with this product to perfect skin in a three-step moisture, glow and makeup potion that is transfer-resistant. Gleamy finished skin was representing big-time that night on the red carpet. Even E! host Guiliana Rancic wears Gleam.

Also seen from Mills’ cosmetic line was the Pantone color of the year, Radiant Orchid (worn above in makeup done by Mills), in her Lip Radiance called “Uncontrollable.” The lip color is flattering and works for light skins to deeper complected women.

Brushopolis Teasedale Brush

Also invented by a woman. So you know it’s going to be good.

“My top tip for teasing is to take the Teasedale, take a section of hair, then brush down in a curved shape,” said Sally Rogerson, founder of SR Education and former Vidal Sassoon Academy Creative Director. “The three levels of bristles will smooth the hair, redistribute the natural oils and build volume.”

The act of hair teasing is a styling move that creates mega volume and stratospheric updos to the perfect messy ponytail, the runways teased fashion to new heights and Brushopolis has launched the Teasedale brush, the ultimate styling tool for creating these current looks. And this brush is already hard at work with top celeb stylists on movie and TV sets.

The Teasedale is a performance brush, engineered to create maximum volume with minimum breakage. 3 rows of 100% first-cut boar bristle, each at a different level, provide better traction than a traditional teasing brush, meaning you get more volume with fewer passes through the hair thus less breakage. The high-quality of the natural boar bristle is gentle on hair and extensions, evenly distributing product and your natural oils.

Teasedale is made out of poplar wood, so it’s hypoallergenic. Plus, the ergonomic shape makes it easy to use. Under $20 bucks.

Waist not want not. A kinder and gentler corset is selling like hotcakes, and the stylists we talked to recommended:

Almighty Cincher by AMIA

$54 via www.hourglassangel.com

AMIA has an affordable and very effective waist cincher that spanks Spanx to the curb. Bonus Intel: Almighty Cincher includes a $1 donation to The Women’s Alliance, helping provide professional attire and career training to low-income women.
The Corset comeback is evident on the red carpet, as

For centuries, women have used girdles to shrink their waistlines. With stars like Jessica Alba and then trends known as corset shaping and dieting coming back into fashion, e-commerce shapewear retailer HourglassAngel.com is witnessing a massive corset comeback online.

Stylists LOVE the Almighty Cincher. This midsection makeover’s PowerLatex core does it all, sucks in tummy, streamlines profile and boosts up the girls. And when it comes to your back, the Almighty Cincher has FlexiBoning which gently supports the spine, lengthening your torso to relieve pain as it slims your waist dramatically and immediately.

Of note, the PowerLatex core stimulates thermal activity and perspiration, mobilizing fat and toxins. People also love it because it shrinks with you as you lose weight too.  As your body slims, two columns of hook-and-eye closures allow the Almighty Cincher to size down with you, insuring a continuing custom fit. What stylists tell me is you get a visible reduction of the waistline by 1-3 inches and some users report 1-4 inches sustained loss after 30 days. Hello new best friend that is sold out right now on the website.

The ‘Fall of Shame’ shoe situation: How to stay IN those impossibly high heels.

Solution? Another American woman invents genius “Sticky Shoes” inserts, a idea so simple yet executed brilliantly. Stylists hipped us to these too, as bare feet or hosiery can slip right out of a Christian Louboutin and send a willowy glamazon to her death on the red carpet or catwalk. Sticky Shoes are easy to use, stay in place, hypo-allergenic, discreet application, and they’re safe for everyday use.  They even work in flat shoes too.

Last, but not least, a most unusual find in the makeup rooms for nails- Crabtree & Evelyn  makes amazing new metallic nail enamels that are super hot right now. People raved about them to me, and I can see why.

Cardinal Nail Lacquer has a deep crimson hue that looks like molten cherry red diamonds – stunning.

Anthurium Nail Lacquer is a brilliant orange-red shade with hints of gold and orange shimmer add depth.

Cinnamon Nail Lacquer, a gorgeous brown copper rich metallic Cinnamon nail lacquer. Love this one.

Silver Nail Lacquer is the ‘Precious metal’ which applies in a lustrous color will add an eye-catching and glamorous gleam to your nails.
