A designer drug has been found responsible for causing death of two people due to overdose. The drug is named MDMA, also known as molly.

It is considered to be a pure and stronger form of ecstasy. Two people who have died due to the drug are Jeffrey Russ, 23, from Rochester and Olivia Rotondo, 20, from Providence.

Dr. Damon Raskin, addiction specialist, provided vital information about the drug while warning that though people think it is a mild drug, it’s absolutely not. “Kids will often think of this as a very benign drug, and that is scary”, said Raskin.

Raskin said the drug is such that it lowers inhibitions. This factor makes a person to feel a sense of euphoria, which gradually turns into anxiety and depression.

If to talk about general trend then it is not taken alone and that is what makes it more toxic. It is taken along with other drugs like alcohol and that proves to be a deadly combination.

The Drug Abuse Warning Network has unveiled that a massive 120% rise was witnessed with regard to MDMA-related emergency room visits in 2011 in comparison to 2004. Yet again, the drug is back into news for overdose-related deaths.
