A South Florida plastic surgeon is defending himself from what he says are inconsistencies in the autopsy report in the death of a popular Miami DJ.
The autopsy from the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner says the cause of death for Betty Pino, known as the “Queen of Radio” in South Florida, was “delayed complications of cosmetic surgical procedure.
But Dr. Constantino Mendieta, a specialist in sculpting glutes, says he performed a reconstructive procedure, not a cosmetic one, and says the report has the name of another doctor in it.
“There are some gross inconsistencies that we are going to address with them,” Mendieta said Thursday. “In the report it stated that I removed silicone implants, I did not do that. It calls me Dr. Rivera which I am not Dr. Rivera.”
Typically a concern of women (The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery reported that 93.8 percent of buttocks augmentations were performed on females),The New York Times says men now apparently want bigger butts, too.
“I’ve always had a nonexistent butt,” 46-year-old Jeff Vickers told the Times. “Zero.”
The stories are becoming too familiar: Women ending up severely disfigured or even tragically dead after visiting backdoor plastic surgeons.
In this latest instance, a mother-of-two died after receiving butt implants from a Venezuelan “doctor”.
Suyima Torres was just 28 when she passed away in April.
Suyima reportedly visited Cuerpos Health and Aesthetics for a $1,500 procedure in which an oily yellow substance was injected into each of her butt cheeks, according to court documents.
A few weeks later she had another round of injections and felt dizzy right after. She died ten hours later.
She paid $2,300 in total cash for the injections.
Though her cause of death has not been determined, police are treating it as manslaughter connected to the unlicensed practice of medicine.
According to leading plastic surgeon Dr. Constantino Mendieta this story brings to light two epidemics that are a growing trend in cosmetic surgery.
A New Trend In Beauty with Dr. Constantino Mendieta
Men and women alike are known to dibble and dabble in plastic sugery. Whether it is a nose job, liposuction, tummy tuck, Botox, and any other surgery they can get to achieve the ‘ultimate look.’ Well, the trend that is now is butt augmentations. Everyone looks at stars like Beyonce, J-Lo, and Kim Kardashian and want to have what they see as the perfect booty. Look no further; Dr. Constantino Mendieta is the ‘Master of Booties.’ Located in Miami Florida, Dr. Mendieta makes sure all of his clients have a well sculpted bottom they are happy and proud of. Leaving clients more confident that ever.
Why the ‘booty’? What was so intriguing about the butt that made you want to focus on that specific aspect of the body?
Constantino Mendieta:
Believe me it was not an easy road. You see I am married man you have no idea how many times I got knocked off of a bench from a right elbow to the rib cage while starring at buttocks. So how do you tell your wife you want to stare at buttocks all day long?
Well after two weeks of therapy I was able to approach the subject again. Just kidding she was actually very helpful she helped me see things from a woman’s perspective and gave me a different outlook.
So the research began, in the beginning I was obsessed to say the least thinking about it almost day and night. I was very frustrated since I did not know what I was really looking at, they all looked alike, two buns with a central part some were pretty, others- well!. I started by gathering hundreds of buttock pictures and dividing them into “attractive”, “not so attractive” and “where did this come from”. I found myself thinking of this all the time and made several mistakes along the way, on one occasion I woke my wife up at 1 in the morning and I said; honey- stand up- she thought a cockroach or a rat had entered into the bed so she jumped quickly with her hair all up in the air and barely conscious she said what? What happened? I then- said-do me a favor turn around for a minute, I have been thinking of something that I think is important, I need to measure your buttock. Well the buttock project had to go on hold for while at least until I straightened out with the therapist the appropriate times to discuss the butt.
With therapy I could now return to the buttock project but my determination was strong, every walk in the park was an opportunity to study
Actually my wife turned out to be a tremendous help and gave my first start at figuring out what I was looking at. With my wife’s help I noticed that the attractive buttock was not related to size but rather shape and proportions. She helped me find relationships in the surrounding parts of the buttock (she noticed there were different buttock heights and widths) and with this little push it really got me thinking in the right direction.
As a side note it is interesting to see how men and women see things very differently. I showed her two beautiful buttocks and asked what she saw. I realized that women tend to have sharper eye for aesthetics and beauty while men are much more sexual (comments like I’ll tell you what I see? Or howling noises, on one occasion ‘wait a minute that’s my sister!’.
It took me about 8 years to really understand how to reshape and change the buttock region. I now teach all over the world and have written and authored a book on the subject. There are only two in the world.
How long have you been sculpting booties?
CM: This is a passion that started 12 years ago. When I developed the interest there was absolutely nothing in our literature (in the history of plastic surgery) to help guide surgeons in the aesthetic of the buttocks, how to contour, what makes a pretty buttock, how do you transform the buttock to be perkier, prettier more youthful appearance. There were some articles on how to make the buttock bigger but nothing in the aesthetics of beauty of the buttock. This therefore became my mission and it took me seven years to develop the process and then teach others around the world.
What prompted you to write The Art of Gluteal Sculpting?
CM: The seven years it took me to develop a new booty vision was cemented in my book. There was a need for this in our specialty. There are only two books in the world on this subject and I am fortunate to have been able to write one of them.
The fat is an excellent way to augment the buttock it is completely natural therefore no chances of rejection since it is your own body. However we need the transplanted fat to survive it is like transplant trees from the back yard to the front yard, it needs the right nutrition, water and the best soil but not all the tree will survive. When it comes to fat not all the transferred fat will survive and it will take six months for the final results to be seen.
How is the butt augmentation done? How is the fat transferred in the bottom?
CM: The fat is obtained from unwanted areas of the body, areas that you cannot get rid of no matter how much your work out or diet. This liquid gold material (fat), is then prepared by separating the fluid from the fat and then transferring the pure fat cells to the buttock. The trick is not just making the buttock bigger but also rather reshaping it, making it perkier and more youthful. You don’t necessarily need to make it bigger and you can just reshape, but if you desire a larger buttock this also can be done. The fat in injected into the muscle into the fat and in all layers of the buttock.
What is the recovery time? Are you able to sit on your bottom right after the procedure?
CM: It is 10 days to get back to work, one month to feel normal (like you feel before surgery), two months to get back to the gym and six months to see the final results.
Women are going great lengths to achieve the perfect bottom; they are even going so far as to getting butt injections; what are the dangers of these injections?
CM: You have three ways to augment the buttock; implants, fat grafting and these unapproved and deadly liquid injections (they consist of silicone, fix a flat, PMMT). The biggest “con” is selecting an unqualified doctor. The horrors of these back alley quacks who criminally inject industrial chemicals, cement and who knows what cause irreparable damage and death to desperate people. The pros are numerous, Life changing for many, as your entire shape is re-jigged, literally. I give women with blocky midsections a waist, and a booty that they have always wanted with their own fat tissue. The confidence boost is tremendous, and I cannot tell you how ecstatic people are to live a life in a body they are proud of. Also, removing fat from the abdomen is a healthy move for many people too.
From, the before and after photos (which are amazing by the way!), your clients are pretty much getting liposuction in addition to their augmentation. You can see the way the back is sculpted from the end product…. Have you ever had any client that was not satisfied with your work?
CM: Sure, plastic surgery is not an exact science and complications occur or just results that were not what they desired. When you deal with the human psyche there are many variables, and not every patient will be happy. There is nothing in life where all people are happy every single time no matter what industry you are in. It is just a fact of life. But to minimize these issues you need to feel comfortable with your surgeon. Go to surgeons who love performing the procedure and do it on a regular basis. It is not about self-promotion but rather about educating the public on safety issues, understanding the options that exist and avoiding pitfalls, educating patients on what to look for in a surgeon and how to select a surgeon.
Frankly there are many very good board certified plastic surgeons. It is imperative that you do your homework and look at three things:
Board certification
Before and after photos to make sure you are on the same aesthetic sense make sure you like his way of looking at the aesthetics. You are selecting and artist and just like art there are many different taste. Select the one for you.
Feel comfortable with your surgeon; therefore see several doctors before you decide.
Is the augmentation reversible?
CM: Well you can always liposuction the area that was augmented, making the buttock smaller but why would you want to do that? This would make me cry.
Can you tell us some of your celebrity clients and/or famous faces that our readers may know?
CM: Unfortunately while we have many high profile people I cannot disclose names due to HIPPA and privacy issues. But they are shaking their ‘money-makers.’
Tell me about your upcoming reality show The Best Seat in The House? How did the idea of a reality show come about, and how did you get involved?
I was approached by a production company called 44 Blue, and they had the idea since they felt the buttock is the new hot topic and patients are flying from all over the world. People are mortgaging houses, taking out loans, getting sugar daddies, and scarffing up savings to get a new booty. This is the latest craze in plastic surgery. So they felt this was a world worth exploring the lengths that people got to, to improve the back side. I am super excited about this look into the plastic surgery world from a different perspective
When can we expect the show to air?
CM: Not sure we are still pitching to the various networks
There was a photo of a male patient you worked on; do you get a lot of male patients who want the butt augmentation just as much as females? Is your fee still $14,000, and, does the same fee apply to male clients or is it a bit more because they are males?
CM: Men are a huge untapped market currently they are about 10% of the practice but they should be higher, one of the first things men lose is their buttocks and they have to overcompensate with large wallets in the buttock. But really when it comes to men a flat buttock is a current epidemic that we need to cure.
Tell me about your Booty Camp? What does it consist of? Squats, running, and special foods?
CM: Booty camp is when patients don’t have enough fat so I need them to gain weight. I send them on eating workouts to McDonalds, pasta places, dessert places, and high calorie shakes. It is booty training.
“People are desperate to enhance their buttocks, but take dangerous chances not seeking out a qualified board certified surgeon,” Mendieta said.
The winner for viral video award of the week goes to an unfortunate woman who reveals a buttocks implant operation that has gone terribly wrong.
The woman is shown turning a silicone buttock implant around and around under her skin because the hard silicone implant never was anchored properly to the muscle. This created a pocket where the hard implant was suspended with no supportive scar tissue to keep it firmly in place.
“This is an example of gluteal surgery gone terribly wrong,” says Miami-based plastic surgeon Dr. Constantino Mendieta, who literally wrote the book (The Art of Gluteal Sculpting) on this new trend in plastic surgery, where bottoms are being shaped with implants and more popular autologous fat transfer. This is also known as “fat grafting,” where fat is harvested from unwanted areas and put back in where it is needed.
Dr. Mendieta says, “Safer than implants, fat is the golden material for enhancing and rejuvenating everything from the back of the hands and the face for volume loss to calves and even biceps to make them appear larger.”
The increase in the demand for such procedures means surgery-gone-horribly-wrong cases are filling the news, especially the transsexual phony doctor in Miami who injected cement and Fix-A-Flat into women’s skin directly.
“People are desperate to enhance their buttocks, but take dangerous chances not seeking out a qualified board certified surgeon,” Mendieta said.
The famous case of Oneal Ron Morris of Miami showed how death can result from back alley butchers who use foreign materials to create a bigger behind. Morris was charged with manslaughter in the death of Shatarka Nuby, 31.
The sad fact is that Morris was already facing charges of practicing medicine without a license and causing serious bodily injury for allegedly injecting at least two women with a mixture of Fix-a-Flat tire sealant, mineral oil and cement in a backroom attempt at buttock enhancement. Nuby died after receiving injections to enlarge her breasts, allegedly from Oneal.
The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery monitors these horrific cases, and Dr. Mendieta urges everyone wanting to improve their appearance to do background checks on physicians offering this, and contact their patients to get first hand referrals too.
Board certified plastic surgeons are members of the American Society for Plastic Surgeons as well as the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery..
Dr. Constantino Mendieta, MD, FACS, has long viewed cosmetic surgery as a reflection of the human body’s own evolution, and how to improve it. A Latino American with a practice based in the “Gateway to the Americas,” Dr. Mendieta’s speciality in buttock shaping and body contouring procedures as well as butt augmentations with fat grafting are considered top in the field.
Good Surgery.
“There is no procedure more satisfying to me than combined buttock and body reshaping, it is truly a life changing procedure,” says Dr. Mendieta.
Extreme Plastic Surgery: Toe-Shortening For Better High-Heels Look, But Are Women Going Too Far? A Plastic Surgeon Weighs In
Women and heels go hand-in-hand. But just how far would you go to look good in your favorite pair of stilettos?
According to a new report from “Good Morning America”, some women are opting for toe-shortening surgery so they can squeeze into their favorite shoes.
While others are choosing injectable cushioning in the soles of the foot and even Botox, to prevent excess sweating.[You can watch the toe-curling segment here]
But even in today’s world of striving for perfection, is this surgery going too far?
“A lot of people suffer from over sweating of their feet and getting botox injections there is not a new procedure,” he says. “People have been injecting botox in their high sweat areas for years that includes the armpits, the scalp and the feet. “This is a minor procedure that should work immediately and get you back on your feet in no time.
However, he goes on to say, “While I have not been asked about toe-shortening yet, I think that is a bit extreme. You will have to be off your feet for a number of days and there will be a lot of pain involved just to wear open toed shoes. And, depending on where you live, that might be good for only a few months out of the year. I know this is coming from a plastic surgeon, but sometimes less is more!”
Expert Opinion: Revealed, The Real Reason Why Britney Spears Looks Perkier
Everyone marveled over how great Britney Spears looked in recent shots in a bikini in Hawaii, but it does appear that the X Factor judge has had some help, according to leading American plastic surgeon Dr Constantino Mendieta.
In the world of bottoms, there are apparently four key shapes, and according to Dr Constantino Mendieta, one of the preeminent board certified plastic surgeons for butt augmentation and liposculpting, the “A” shape is the winner.
Dr. Constantino Mendieta wrote the book on butts, called The Art of Gluteal Sculpting. He tells Monsters and Critics there are four main shapes in buttocks: The preferred A, the V, the Square, and the round shapes.
“There’s science behind that statement,” says Dr. Mendieta, who will soon star in his own reality TV series taking viewers behind the scenes into his practice. “A shape bottoms simply mean that a woman’s waist is smaller than her hips, with a ratio of at least 0.7. A noted psychologist – Devendra Singh- did a study where she found that men all over the world desire women who have that waist to hip magic ratio”
Anderson examines butt enhancement plastic surgery, April 30
Anderson Cooper covered plastic surgery today on his chat sow “Anderson,” and delved into the white hot trend of butt enhancements.
On Monday, April 30, 2012, Anderson hosted several women who each had some sort of procedure, and explained why they elected it. He then spoke to the doctors who each did the procedures.
Guest Brandi discussed the many plastic surgery procedures she went through in order to look more like Carmen Electra. Brandi told Anderson, “I’ve had rhinoplasty, breast augmentation and liposuction.”
When Anderson asked why she wants to look like someone else, Brandi replied, “Let’s put it to you this way, Carmen Electra was my idol. Look at her, she’s beautiful.”
Next guest Ana was inspired by Jennifer Lopez’s rear end, and had a lipo-sculpture procedure done by Miami plastic surgeonDr. Constantino Mendieta. She had the fat from her waist transferred to her bottom, and said she did it because she was 45 years-old and no matter how much she exercised, was not losing any more weight.
She said, “I do still have my Latin curves, to which I’m very proud of.”
Dr. Mendieta is widely coinsidered to be the preeminent doctor for gluteal sculpting, and has worked on some of the most famous rear ends of A-List Hollywood.
He urged all those considering the procedure to make sure to select a surgeon who is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
Exclusive Interview With Dr Constantino Mendieta, The Who Can Help You Get Pippa Middleton’s Butt
A few days ago, an American mom-of-two revealed how she spent $10,000 to get Pippa Middleton’s butt.
Jill Fizgerald (pictured above) said: “When I saw how men all over the community reacted with desire for Pippa’s shapes, I established to take serious measures.”
She began studying techniques online and discovered physician Dr. Constantino Mendieta who provided the “Pippa Buttocks Lift” for $10,000.
And the 43-year-old was thrilled with the results, saying: “Everything just fitted much better, in a charming way, like Pippa’s bridesmaid’s outfit did on her.”
We spoke exclusively to Dr. Constantino Mendieta about this rear-end trend, and he tells us that actually, the interest in Pippa has been pipped by the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian.
‘Entertainment Tonight’ features ‘Best Seat in the House’ Dr. Mendieta
Bootylicious behinds like Pippa Middleton and Kim Kardashian have overtaken the breast fixation of the USA.
In the eloquent argument by HBO’s Kenny Powers of “Eastbound & Down,” the rebounding baseballer waxes on the physical female attributes, “It’s no mystery that ass has always been tits’ greatest enemy. It’s almost like a Muslim-Jewish thing, but with tits and ass.”
So much so that Board Certified Plastic SurgeonDr. Constantino Mendieta, a Miami-based physician raised in Los Angeles, has never been busier with his perfeced gluteal sculpting techniques that use a person’s own fat, removed from unwanted areas and refined and injected to create a perfect sweetheart bum.
UK paper dailymail.co.uk reports one Miami, Florida resident went to see the city’s famous Butt surgeon, Dr. Constantino Mendieta. After watching the Royal Wedding on TV, Jenny Fizgerald wanted the Pippa Middleton butt. ‘When I saw Pippa in that dress, I knew I wanted what she had’. Dr. Mendieta is renowned for his exceptional body sculpting skills based on his industry text, The Art of Gluteal Sculpting. Read our interview with Dr. Mendietahere. Dr. Mendieta recently worked with Jenny, who elected his popular $13,000 (not $10,000 as reported by the Mail) ‘Pippa butt lift’
Jenny was sold on the testimonials to Dr. Mendieta’s procedure of using one’s own fat redistributed where it needs to go. Usually abdominal fat is used for grafting to the buttocks.
The unique procedure creates dramatic and proportionally beautiful results.
Dr. Mendieta is also in production filming a reality series with 44 Blue (Pit Bulls & Parolees) based on the busy office and his family life.
Jenny, from Miami, Florida, said: “When I saw how men around the world responded with adoration for Pippa’s curves, I decided to take drastic action.”
“I didn’t want a huge bum – I wanted one that was pert and elegant like Pippa’s. When I saw her in that dress on TV, I knew I wanted what she had. I’d always hated my shape, especially after having two kids, and it left me feeling terrible about myself. I looked in the mirror and hated what I saw. It was hard to meet men because I didn’t think I looked nice. I was scared about what would happen if they ever saw me without my clothes on.”
After researching cosmetic procedures on the internet, she discovered Dr Constantino Mendieta MD
who offered the “Pippa Butt Lift” for £6,000, and began saving.
Jenny, who runs a clothing line, met with the surgeon in May last year and decided on a procedure where fat would be extracted from one part of her body and injected into her bum, to make it more pert.
The slim size four mum was even ordered to bulk up before the procedure – meaning she had to gorge on chocolate, ice cream and crisps.
She said: “It was amazing. I got to eat all my favourites and could gain weight without feeling guilty.
“It was all going towards giving me the perfect shape I longed for.”
After two months, Jenny had built up enough fat had built up in her stomach and hips to go under the knife, having fat sucked from her wobbly bits and put into her backside.
She dropped two dress sizes in the procedure – from size four to size two- and found clothes were tight on her new bum, while fitting perfectly on her newly-shaped waist.
“Everything just fitted much better, in a lovely way, like Pippa’s bridesmaid’s dress did on her,” said Jenny.
“I bought new-styles for my wardrobe which I’d always dreamed of wearing but never dared to before because they didn’t fit me properly.
“It was like a dream come true. I love my new body and just like Pippa I get loads more attention from men.
“Now I am full of confidence.”
With a bum fit for a fairytale wedding, three months later Jenny found love again with her own Prince Charming.
The pretty brunette is now engaged to boyfriend Carlos, 42, who owns a heavy machinery firm, and credits her pert behind for cupid striking.
She added: “I know my new bum made this happen. I finally feel great and sexy about myself.
“And I know Carlos loves it too – he’s always staring.”
Carlos said: “Her bottom is why I noticed her in the first place. Without it we might never have spoken.”
Woman Dies After Cosmetic Procedure, Family Wants Answers
A grieving Hollywood family is looking for answers, a week after a grandmother of six died after cosmetic surgery. “We just want to know what happened to my mother-in-law and to our mom because we weren’t expecting this,” said Kendra Williams. On March 22, 50-year-old Idell Frazer had liposuction on her back and fat transfer to her buttocks at Strax Rejuvenation in Lauderhill. According to a Lauderhill Police report Sunrise Fire Rescue responded to a call there and found Frazer “unconscious, pulse less and not breathing.” This is what Frazer’s daughter-in-law says she was told at Strax.
“They said that her pressure was really was dropped and that it was low and that they didn’t know why that we need to get to the hospital,” recalled Williams.
Frazer was transported to Florida Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. Her family has hired attorney James Haliczer. “The investigation into what happened here and why this tragic death occurred is underway now,” said Haliczer. Peter Mineo is the attorney for Strax rejuvenation. “We have spoken to the medical examiner who has ruled preliminarily, because they have to do final microscopic examinations, that the patient died from an embolus and that this was an adipose tissue embolus, and it’s a known complication of the surgery” said Mineo.
Adipose tissue embolus is a piece of fat tissue that causes an obstruction. According to records from the Broward County Medical Examiner, two other patients have died from this. In December 2010, another Strax patient, Lidvian Zelaya died after a liposuction and fat transfer procedure. The primary cause was fat tissue in the lung. In June 2011, Maria Shortall died of fat tissue in the pulmonary artery. She had a liposuction fat transfer procedure at Alyne Rejuvenation in Weston.
In January, NBC 6 did a story about fat transfer to the buttocks with Miami plastic surgeon Dr. Constantino Mendieta, who has written a book on this procedure. He has performed 1,500 and says that fat embolism is a very rare and serious complication, which he has yet to experience with any of his patients. In the case of Idell Frazer, the Broward County medical examiner lists her primary cause of death as pending. Final results could take two weeks or longer.
Fat transfer and extreme breast pumping: How celebs really lose post-partum pounds
It’s hard to believe that Beyonce gave birth just 10 weeks ago. The songstress had jaws on the floor at a New York fundraiser for President Obama this week, flaunting her flab-free figure in a body-hugging blue dress.
But according to multiple industry insiders and experts, celebrities don’t always pop the pregnancy pounds the way they say they do. There is often a lot more than yoga and a low sodium diet going on behind the scenes.
“A lot of celebrities resort to very extreme methods to drop the baby weight. I highly doubt most celebrities are losing weight the healthy way,” Dr. Carson Liu, certified bariatric and gastrointestinal surgeon, told FOX411’s Pop Tarts column. “There is a tremendous amount of pressure on Hollywood mommies to lose weight. They’re not viable again until they lose the weight. It’s expected of them.”
One well-placed entertainment industry figure said it’s not uncommon for stars to starve themselves or undergo a quick liposuction session in an effort to squeeze back into their size zero designer jeans. Another said new Hollywood mommies routinely partake in fat grafting in particular to re-shape their bodies.
Otherwise known as “fat transfer,” this process involves surgically removing fat from one area of the body with micro-liposuctioning methods and transplanting it to another.
“Many women find that their post-pregnancy bodies are unresponsive to diet and exercise and A-list celebs who are under pressure to get their pre-pregnancy bodies back virtually overnight. I often remove fat from the abdominal region and transfer it to the buttocks to augment and return the fullness and roundness to the derriere,” said plastic surgeon Dr. Constantino Mendieta.“This is a great option for women looking to remove stretch marks – and re-contour and flatten the stomach.”
More than 300,000 men were injected with Botox in 2011, reports the American Society of Plastic Surgery, a 10-percent increase from 2010.
The ASPS also said the filler’s popularity has increased 258 percent since 2000.
Doctors are terming this increasingly popular procedure “Bro-tox.”
Urban Dictionary amusingly defines the practice as “Botox when used on a straight male, usually something he doesn’t want you to know about,” and, “Some men use to prevent or erase wrinkles, while others use it to improve their impassive poker face.”
Botox is becoming as hot an item for men as sports tickets, car equipment and gadgets. They have reasoned that they like their younger-looking selves, particularly on the forehead and around the eyes.
“They’ll inject the Botox to soften up this look to just give a more approachable appearance, so in business it helps,” said Miami-based plastic surgeon Dr. Constantino Mendieta. “It helps them too in the bars when they’re trying to meet the girls.”
Hollywood Bootylicious: J-Lo and Diaz rear view craze inspire reality TV series
Hollywood actresses Jennifer Lopez and Cameron Diaz made a splash at the recent Oscars when they turned and gave killer over-the-shoulder looks while flaunting their rear view assets.

Having a plump, curvaceous behind has become an asset in Hollywood. Women are paying a lot of money to look like Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian by enhancing their behinds.
It’s become the latest craze in cosmetic surgery. Plastic surgeons say the only way safe way to do it is through surgical implants, or by transferring fat from another part of one’s body done by board certified doctors.
But, Lisa Guerrero and the INSIDE EDITION I-Squad found a shady, underground world of unqualified people who allegedly injected their customers with strange cocktails.
Many women were promised beautiful behinds, but were left disfigured and scarred. In some cases, they died as a result of these toxic injections.
In one case, a woman in Florida, allegedly injected herself and her patients with things like cement and Fix-A-Flat – sold for tire repairs.A far cry from the celebrity sex-appeal so many were hoping for.
Gabi Castillo always envied Jennifer Lopez’s sexy moves. She wasn’t satisfied with her own curves, so she paid $6,000 to get a more voluptuous backside.
“I felt I would look sexy if I had a big butt,” Gabi told INSIDE EDITION.
Not long after the procedure, a lump appeared on her behind. It grew into a life-threatening infection that was eating away at her skin and muscle.
“I remember the horror of not knowing if I was going to live,” she said.
Doctors told Gabi, she’d been injected with an unknown, contaminated substance.
She had to undergo 28 surgeries, which removed the infection, and most of her behind. Today, she’s left with permanent scars and has to wear prosthetic pads just to feel normal.
Miami plastic surgeon Constantino Mendieta told INSIDE EDITION, “Without knowing it, these patients are rolling the dice. They’re actually playing Russian roulette with their health.”
‘Miami Thong Lift’ doctor says business is booming
MIAMI, Fla. (NBC) — On busy South Dixie Highway near Coconut Grove, Florida it’s hard to miss the signs for the Miami Thong Lift.
Jenny Fitz came from Bolivia to have it done last year.
“I love it. Tremendous change.Yeah because I had that square look,” Fitz said.
She joked that she used to look like SpongeBob Squarepants.
Plastic surgeon Constantino Mendieta says he invented the Miami Thong Lift around ten years ago.
“It’s just now entering into vogue. As a matter of fact, I’m going to Paris to lecture this week. I’ve been invited to Turkey, and we’re going to Belgium,” said Mendieta.
When the news came out late last year that some retardedely desperate girls in Miami allowed a transsexual Frankenstein man with grotesquely gargantuan ass and titties to inject their butts with cement and Fix-A-Flat tire sealant in hopes of ballooning their asses to J. Lo proportions, we knew this whole bootyliciousthing was starting to get out of control. Surprisingly, that case is just one of many instances last year where people hired quacks to augment their asses–a 20-year-old student in Philly even died from underground silicone butt injections last February.
This seedy scene of backyard assplasty belies a broader trend of women going to extreme measures to improve the shape and girth of their behinds. The sane way to do this, beyond squats and eating lots of bonbons, is to go to a plastic surgeon. There are two general methods that real doctors use to augment your bum–implants and fat transfers. Implants in the butt generally follow the same concept as implants in the breast, and have been slowly rising in popularity in the US over the last few years. However, fat transfers, also known as the Brazilian Butt Lift, are where all the action is. This procedure involves liposuctioning fat from unwanted places, prepping it, and pumping it back into select areas of the butt to create a delicious flesh-apple. It’s hard to get specific statistics on fat grafting, however, because most surgery societies tally fat transfers under liposuction.
Dr. Constantino Mendieta is the biggest advocate for butt augmentation in the world. Unsurprisingly, his practice is in Miami and overrun with sexy nurses with surgically sculpted asses. Butt-hungry patients fly in from all over the globe to have his steady hand in their behind, and with good reason–he literally wrote the book on butts. It’s called The Art of Gluteal Sculpting. The original idea was to interview another talented surgeon, but when Constantino heard through the grapevine that VICE was writing about butt augmentation he called us up to set the record straight.
From sound waves to stem cells: Face rejuvenation treatments of the future
South Florida doctors are using a growing array of procedures — from fat injections to stem cells — to help rejuvenate your face.
Are the years taking a toll on your face?
South Florida doctors have an ever-growing arsenal of youth-enhancing procedures to help turn back time for savvy patients.
“Twenty years ago, there was only one remedy for facial aging, [facelifts] ,” said Dr. Stephan Baker, a Coral Gables plastic surgeon and spokesman for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. “Today we have a whole spectrum of how we can approach aging.”
Injectable dermal fillers like Restylane and Juvederm, as well as muscle relaxers like Botox and Dysport, have become the most popular methods today to add volume, smooth wrinkles and enhance youthfulness, doctors say.
But some South Florida plastic surgeons and dermatologists are expanding their repertoire to include new options, such as injecting fat or stem cells into the face, as well as using ultrasound technology to tighten sagging skin. “I’m doing a lot of fat,” said Dr. Constantino Mendieta, a Miami plastic surgeon and spokesman for the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, who is using fat as a natural way to add volume to the face. As we age, we tend to lose fat from the face, as well as from the hands, derriere and breasts, Mendieta said.
Botox – or Bro-tox – increasingly popular gift for men.
What to get the man in your life is an ongoing dilemma. The go-to gifts have been gadgets, sports tickets, car equipment and the like.
But a hot item this year is Botox.
“Every time I would raise my eyebrows I would get creases all along my forehead,” 29-year-old actor Johnny Markoudakis told “Good Morning America.”
Orange County, Calif., plastic surgeon Dr. Tenley Lawton injected Botox into the actor’s forehead and around his eyes. Just a week later, Markoudakis says people told him he looked more refreshed and less stressed.
“So, thank you, to my best friend for my Christmas gift. It was awesome,” said Markoudakis.
“I got Botox for Christmas this year to see Dr. [Constantino] Mendietain Miami,” another man, Julio Mendez, told “GMA.”
“My appointment is tomorrow and I’m really excited. I have these lines on my forehead,” he said.
Just look around at all the botoxed faces and tucked tummies decked out in designer duds, driving down U.S. 1 in Maseratis. Send them season’s greetings for boosting our economy.
Miami recently ranked as the most vain city in the United States, based on residents’ responses to a poll conducted by Mandala Research and released by LivingSocial.
Miami also topped the nation in such procedures as laser hair removal, tummy tucks, liposuction and collagen injections, according to the poll, based on an unscientific percentage of respondents who know someone who had the work done.
It all translates into a windfall for local businesses that cater to enhancing beauty or selling the finer accoutrements of life.
“Miami has a little bit of ‘You are what you wear, you are what you drive’ culture,” said Cynthia Cohen, an expert on the luxury market and president of Miami-based Strategic Mindshare, a retail strategy consulting firm.
No doubt, the weather helps promote the Miami attitude.
“It’s easy to have a luxury car in Miami because it’s not going to be messed up by snow and salt,” Cohen said.
Also, a Prada dress doesn’t have to be covered up by a parka, or those Christian Louboutins traded in for lug-soled boots.
“You can always wear expensive high heels in Miami, and the worst thing that is going to happen is they get rained on,” Cohen said. In fact, Miami consistently ranks as one of the largest luxury car markets in the country, and local designer shops generate top revenue, thanks to high-net-worth residents and visitors willing to shell out for high-end goods.
Demand for cosmetic procedures, along with breast enhancements and even derriere lifts, also is surging. The American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery said Americans spent almost $10.7 billion on cosmetic procedures in 2010. Dr. Constantino Mendieta, a Miami plastic surgeon and spokesman for the organization, said Miami is one of the top cities. His own business is up 10 percent this year.
Scarborough Research shows that South Florida adults are 50 percent more likely to have had cosmetic surgery in the past three years than adults nationwide.
“Miami Beach, South Beach, no question it’s the vain capital of the world,” said Dr. Leonard Tachmes, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon whose clinic and medical spa is in Miami Beach. “South Beach — there is nothing like it anywhere. The people are very obsessed with beauty and style and fashion and their bodies, and it’s a little crazy.”
Just take some of Tachmes’ most popular procedures: the Brazilian butt lift, liposuction and breast augmentation.
“We are busy, and there seems to be no end in sight,” Tachmes said.
No one can deny that we saw an inordinate amount of attention paid to Pippa Middleton this year. Her beautiful white sheath on sister Kate Middleton’s wedding day was one thing, and her athletic (yet sometimes partying) reputation was equally as appealing. But what really impressed people the most was her butt. So much so that millions around the world have been meticulously staring at it for months now. And this craze has inspired some pretty strange things.
Pippa’s toned and shapely derriere had women (and men) all over the world sitting up to take notice. Suddenly, everyone wanted to know: How did she get such a great ass? Who cares if it was padded or not, we wanted it. I’ll have what she’s having!
The “Pippa Butt Lift” became the latest trend as plastic surgeons were flooded with patients who wanted Pippa’s royal rear end.
In an interview with Fox News, plastic surgeon Dr. Constantino Mendieta said he now gets more requests for her derriere than J-Lo’s or even Kim Kardashian’s :
NEED A LIFT? Women all over the world coveted Pippa Middleton’s ivory, Sarah Burton-designed dress as they watched the royal wedding. Some viewers also wondered how they could look like the perky maid of honor.
Now plastic surgeons have dubbed a procedure to make that happen the “Pippa butt lift.”
Does the desire to replicate that region of the body sound familiar? Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian have been recent role models for some women.
But reports in the media say that Pippa’s posterior is the new paragon, especially for petite women.
“The latest craze here in the U.S. and all over the world is to get the ‘Pippa Butt Lift,’ ” Miami-based celebrity plastic surgeon Dr. Constantino Mendieta told FOX411’s Pop Tarts. “Once the breast implants reigned supreme, now it is the buttocks that are considered a woman’s best asset.”
ABC’s “Good Morning America” earlier this week interviewed a patient of Mendietta, a 28-year-old single mother who went for Pippa’s look. “Her frame just looked incredible in that dress,” said the woman, Christina Valdez. “I love the results … I feel sexy.”
The procedure involves lipsuction on the stomach, with that fat transplanted into the buttocks. The surgery takes 2 hours; Recovery can take 6 weeks.
The body contouring craze also is being met with criticism.
“If you want a nice backside,” suggested one commenter on ABC’s website, “lift weights and build the glutes. You don’t need to ‘sculpt fat’ in that area. You can’t build breasts, but you can certainly build an attractive backside.”
Tush Talk: Dr. Mendieta Talks Proper Buttocks-Enhancement Proceedure
The desire to have a bodacious bottom in Miami is bigger than other American cities, as the climate allows for little clothes and is known for sexy bodies, gorgeous beaches and beautiful people, all celebrated in numerous rap videos and TV shows like Showtime’s “Dexter” and USA’s “Burn Notice.”
Style icons like Sophia Vergara, J-Lo and Kim Kardashian also have elevated the tush as a focal point, with rounder and bigger being better.
Dr. Constantino Mendieta has perfected a procedure where he lifts and plumps your buttocks through an incision in the gluteal crease. It rejuvenates the buttocks without major incisions. The result is a perfect Bikini bottom.
Born in Los Angeles, California, Dr. Mendieta moved to his parents homeland in Nicaragua. His uncle – a plastic surgeon – reconstruct the disfigured faces of war victims, restoring them to near-normal appearance. Dr. Mendieta made his career path early in life as he was deeply affected by his Uncle’s reconstructive skills. He returned to the United States to complete his secondary education and build his practice.
Dr. Mendieta’s practice is in Miami, Florida, where he has perfected his own method of butt enhancement. http://www.buttsbymendieta.com/
As we age so many unfortunate things occur, one of them being the effects of gravity on your largest muscle group covered in fat: The Gluteus Maximus.
Similar to how fillers are pumped into faces to rebuild lost volume from age, so can your bottom be plumped up with fat. Not just any fat, but your own fat, which makes it a win-win of asset redistribution, according to Dr. Mendieta.
OVER the last few years, the rear has come up front, literally. The buttocks have picked up more attention than ever before. Women, even some men alike, have learned to whine – “I want a firmer butt,” or worse, “Your rear is too flat!”
Clarity Aesthetic Medical and Dental Center now offers all rear-conscious individuals out there yet another breakthrough solution to their bodily woes. “The Brazilian butt lift is a type of butt augmentation procedure that transfers patient’s fats to their rear end, resulting to a naturally youthful, more perky-looking buttocks, and ultimately, a more sensual body profile,” according to Dr. Alfredo V. Callanta.
This breakthrough procedure initially removes fat from selected areas of the patient’s body, purifies the fat, then re-injects selected donor fat cells into your buttocks – which eliminates possibility of rejection of the body. The Brazilian butt lift also looks more natural than the regular buttock implants, without the unwanted incisions and stitches which cause scars.
With his expertise in using fat graft to the face for facial rejuvenation as the Philippines’ premier FAMI (Fat Autologous Muscular Injection) practitioner, Dr. Callanta is now rearing the application of fat graft to the buttocks. He is using the technique of renowned Miami plastic surgeon Dr. Constantino Mendieta, who has perfected the art of body sculpting. The Mendieta technique is patient-specific, in which the doctor will remove the amount of fat necessary to provide the patient with her desired shape and size.
Fat may be extracted from several body parts, which includes the abdomen, thighs and arms, depending on the patient and where he or she carries excessive weight.
Pippa Middleton Fuels Drastic Rise In Plastic Surgery ‘Butt Lifts’
Before the 27th April 2010 swung around, Pippa Middleton had very little power around the world, now her bottom seems to be taking over!
Her bottom is single handedly causing a crazed stampede of desperate women keen to go under the knife to get that royal seat.
Since we saw big sis Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton and Prince William get hitched at the royal wedding of the century, Pippa has achieved global fame, all with the help of a form fitting bridesmaid dress designed by Alexander McQueen.
The flattering gown left watchers asking two things: could her gown have been padded and, if not, how do I get that back?
A Pippa Middleton-style bottom could be yours…for £4,500
A special gel called macrolane imitates the pertness and bounciness of her royal hotness’s backside, say plastic surgeons Eva Kusch and Thorsten Wiens, who offer a heart-shaped derriere as ‘the Pippa’ at their clinic in Essen, Germany.
‘Not everyone has the time to do it the natural way with pilates and running so we need a short cut to look like Pippa,’ said one fan of the op.
Plastic surgeons have reported a huge rise in requests from women for a ‘butt lift’ to give them a rump like the royal sister-in-law.
One American surgeon, Dr Constantino Mendieta recently said that he had seen a 20 per cent rise in patients seeking bottom lifts who had used Pippa as their ‘rear idol’.
‘In that wedding gown, she created a stir,’ he said. ‘People want those dimensions. She’s just gorgeous.’
However experts have warned that such operations carry a risk and can even be fatal if carried out incorrectly.
Pippa achieved notoriety for her bottom after appearing at the Royal Wedding in April in a white bridesmaid’s dress by designer Sarah Burton which emphasised her curves.
Pippa Middleton’s Backside Sparks Comestic Surgery Craze
Picking up a cup for joe before tending to her daily duties, Pippa Middleton was seen walking to work in London, England this morning (September 29).
The beautiful Brit looked fabulous as she readied for her workday, wearing a flowing white frock complete with a red leather purse and matching flats as she stopped for coffee with friends before punching in.
In related news, Pippa’s rear end is causing yet another craze – a surge in a certain cosmetic procedure now coined the “Pippa butt lift.”
According to Miami-based Miami plastic surgeon Dr. Constantino Mendieta, Miss Middleton’s backside envy arose when she served as maid of honor for big sister Kate’s April 29th nuptials.
“In that wedding gown, she created a stir. People want those dimensions. She’s just gorgeous,” Dr Mendieta explained during a recent interview with “Good Morning America”.
Additionally, Mendieta says that 80 percent of all cosmetic work completed in his office are now butt lifts, with a whopping 20 percent of patients specifically requesting a Pippa-like derriere.
Pippa Middleton: gain weight before surgery to get her butt?
Gaining weight to have a butt like Pippa Middleton? According to a new report on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” that’s the best way for surgeons to perform the “butt lift” procedure. Dr. Constantino Mendieta, who wrote the book,The Art of Gluteal Sculpting, talked to the news show about the newest Pippa craze.
Achieving the Pippa Middleton butt is a procedure requiring liposcution from the stomach and injecting fat into backside to slim waist and contour the rear. Believe it not, gaining weight is best for this surgery because new fat is easier to shape than moulding old fat.
Surgery takes just two hours and recovery time is about six weeks.
Dr. Mendieta told “GMA” that 80 percent of plastic surgery patients want butt lifts with 20 percent requests specifically for Pippa’s rear.
Patient, Christina Valdez, was happy with her results from Dr. Mendieta and went from a size 6 to a size 2. Photos shown revealed a more sexy, sculpted body for Christine. Who would have imagined obtaining a butt like Pippa Middleton would entail gaining weight?
The name Pippa Middleton held marginal significance until the April 29 wedding of William and Kate, when Middleton, 27, wowed the crowd in a form-fitting bridesmaid dress by Alexander McQueen that left royal wedding watchers asking two things: could her gown have been padded and, if not, how do I get that back?
Facebook groups and blogs dedicated to Pippa’s posterior soon popped up, earning Middleton the moniker, “Her Royal Hotness.”
Miami’s Hip Larry Land Quarter Thrives on Art Deco Fever: A. Craig Copetas
The monarch of Larry Land has survived malls, condos and the rise and fall of Florida‘s plastic pink-flamingo population.
When others lost their heads to the whims of greater Miami’s $230 billion real-estate industry, 79-year-old Larry Mizrach, president of Mizrach Realty Associates, so resolutely kept his focus on Art Deco and other historic design properties that locals decided to rechristen the city’s blossoming Wynwood quarter in his name.
Mizrach arrived in Wynwood in 1944, a 12-year-old New Yorker whose family drove south to open a clothing factory under the Miami sun. The $1,972 Art Deco Series 62 Cadillac Club Coupe was the tropical car of choice then, and Al Capone was living in a 6,103-square-foot Mediterranean Revival mansion on Palm Island that cost the mob boss $40,000.
Life magazine dubbed neighboring Miami Beach “Babylon U.S.A.,” with snapshots of showgirls hopping the Miami Biltmore Special train down from Broadway for “chance meetings with thick-walleted gentlemen,” who in 1947 poured $220 million into the local economy.
“Nabisco, Coca-Cola, RC Cola, all of the big postwar companies played on the Beach and rushed across the rail tracks to Wynwood to build factories and warehouses in the architectural style of the day,” Mizrach recalls on a stroll through the former Puerto Rican slum that decades of Miami boom times had left alienated and anonymous.
Hell with hemlines — the new barometer of trends is now the ass. And this season, the It Butt belongs to Pippa Middleton.
In the most bizarre trend piece I’ve read in a long time, the Times of London (via the Telegraph) speculates that Pippa has replaced former butt greats J. Lo, Beyonce, Serena Williams, and Kim Kardashian as everybody’s gluteal role model. Says plastic surgeon Dr. Constantino Mendieta,
The buttocks have been an increasing and escalating interest over the last four to five years, but the iconic figures were Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian. Both have tremendous curves and large buttocks. While lots of people love the overall shape of those women, many felt those derrières were just a bit too big.
After stealing the show at sister Kate Middleton’s royal wedding, buzz still surrounds a certain asset of younger sister Pippa Middleton, reports the Telegraph.
According to Miami-based plastic surgeon Dr. Constantino Mendieta, the 27-year-old has inspired requests for the “Pippa Butt Lift.”
“Once the breast implants reigned supreme, now it is the buttocks that are considered a woman’s best asset,” Dr. Mendieta told The Times.
“The latest craze here in the U.S. and all over the world is to get the Pippa Butt lift.”
Dr. Constantino G. Mendieta, world-renowned butt enhancement expert, authors new medical book, “The Art of Gluteal Sculpting.” This book provides clinical information for surgeons who perform buttocks augmentation. The Art of Gluteal Sculpting features illustrative, comprehensive chapters, case examples, and step-by-step techniques.
Miami, FL (PRWEB) August 03, 2011
Dr. Constantino G. Mendieta, the insightful, world-renowned Miami butt enhancement expert, can now add The Art of Gluteal Sculpting to his roster of achievements. As author of this new medical book, which is said to be “the definitive work” on butt enhancement, Dr. Mendieta provides surgeons with the necessary, comprehensive, clinical information they need to meet their patient demands.
Pippa Middleton’s Rear Is ‘Queen of the Booty’ in Plastic Surgery Circles
If you want a perfect rearview, apparently you need to look across the pond.So-called British “commoner” Pippa Middleton has sparked a wave of surgery requests ever since she appeared in a form-fitting Alexander McQueen gown as maid-of-honor to big sister Kate (now Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge’s) marriage to Prince William in April. In particular, it was that back view of Pippa carefully carrying her older sister’s nine-foot-long train into the church that captivated plastic surgery lovers.

While it was once trendy to boost the booty to mimic the likes of Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez, “booty calls” for those two have been bumped for Middleton’s bottom.
You’ve done your research and know surgery’s right for you. Now get off your tush and read this.
BEFORE SURGERY
Most cosmetic surgeons will ask for medical clearance before they will do butt lifts or other cosmetic procedures, says Constantino G. Mendieta, MD. Medical conditions such as obesity, uncontrolled diabetes and high blood pressure–along with diseases such as lupus–might mean surgery must be postponed temporarily, or even permanently. Discuss with your surgeon what to expect from the procedure, possible side effects, and how long it will take to get back into your regular routine. Remember, a butt lift isn’t as simple as getting a Botox injection to smooth away wrinkles.
So you’ve always wanted a more shapely booty. Advanced cosmetic surgery can make it happen. But sometimes you pay a steep price.
Aah, to have a video vixen butt, or one like J.Lo’s, Kim Kardashian’s or maybe even raptress Nicki Minaj. If you’ve ever indulged those wishes, you’re not alone. And if you actually took the next step and consulted with a cosmetic surgeon about butt-enhancing procedures, you’re still in good company.
In 2000, nearly 1,400 people had butt lifts. By 2010, the number of procedures had more than doubled to almost 3,300, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. And though more women than men usually opt for sculpted rear ends, men also go for improved assets: In 2009, for example, 223 men bolstered their backsides, as did 242 the following year. The reason for the overall uptick? Cosmetic surgeons say it’s because today’s improved butt enhancement procedures offer more ways and tools to enhance buttock shape for the best customized results.
Pippa Middleton Inspires Plastic Surgery: Here Comes the Bum
Last month’s royal wedding caused quite a stir–the beautiful gown, the outrageous hats, the pomp and circumstance. But it’s the bridesmaid’s bum that is getting most of the attention. Yes, Kate Middleton’s sister, Pippa, is the owner of the most requested derriere in plastic surgery centers across the world.
